This work was specially written for the musical talent of Dr. Jim Chilton from Toronto, Ontario.  There are three movements and each highlights a specific range and expressive melodic capability of the trombone.  These melodies are supported, and sometimes challenged, by a complex piano accompaniment.  The trombone and piano roles are carefully intertwined while the chromatic accompaniment brings out the subtle harmonic nuances of the trombone melody.
