This work was written for Dr. Jean Gillespie, as a tribute to her many years of amateur horn playing.  There are three movements and each presents a simple, but compelling melody which is supported by a fairly complex piano accompaniment.  The horn and piano roles are carefully intertwined while the chromatic accompaniment brings out the subtle harmonic nuances of the horn melody.  The full dynamic and expressive range of the horn is exploited throughout the work and the piano is challenged to provide substantial support and commentary to the horn’s melodic constructs.
